Business Continuity Management
If an organisation is struck by an emergency or a crises it should continue, or at least continue in a timely manner, its business activities. To be able to do so, an organisation must be prepared.
The organisation has to consider the following questions:
- Who are the key people and which are the key processes, resources and infrastructure to continue business?
- How long can you sustain your business without these key elements?
- What can you prepare to ensure that you can endure the impact of an emergency or crisis?
Based on the answers to these questions you are able to define and take adequate precautionary measures, such as preparing emergency plans, defining backup locations or obtaining insurances. The relationship between costs and benefits of those measures must always be kept in mind.
