SSWM in Emergency and Reconstruction

Sustainable Sanitation and Water Management in Humanitarian Crisis

Water and sanitation are considered top critical areas in emergency situations, in particular because proper preparedness and intervention can prevent and control disease outbreaks. cewas, in cooperation with the German Toilet Organisation (GTO), offers SSWM in Emergency and Reconstruction trainings, with the aim of sensitising stakeholders on the importance and implications of WASH in humanitarian response, while activating a change in the design, planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of WASH services for displaced communities.

The applied training provides WASH practitioners with various planning and implementation tools to build their capacities in the field. Furthermore, participants have the opportunity to exchange information through group works, in which they develop a sanitation system for real life case studies and gain practical insights during field trips. This training course has been imparted since 2016 in Kurdistan and Jordan.
