The forum is aimed at thought leaders, decision-makers, young minds and experienced experts. Our platform connects like-minded people from a business, administration, research and civil society background, regardless of their generation, region or political party.

We are convinced that environmental challenges transcend sectors, districts, age groups and political divides. Hence in 2018, we started to discuss organising a workshop for innovative minds in the water sector who were pioneers in their respective fields but typically would never work together on the same project due to being from different sectors, regions or professional backgrounds. When 2019 came along and the climate movement increasingly gained traction, we realised that we wanted to help channel these energies into productive, innovative initiatives that promote climate-smart projects in Switzerland. Hence, we expanded the original idea of organising a small water-focused workshop to incorporate climate experts and innovators to create a larger-scale project incubator for promoting climate resilience in Switzerland: The idea for the Swiss Water & Climate Forum was born.
The Swiss Water and Climate Forum provides a basis for tackling global problems at a regional level. The forum responds to the different needs of the private sector, public authorities, research institutions and civil society organisations and provides a format for aligning other interests to reach common goals. It is not a conference but a large-scale project incubator to regionalise the climate and water debate. The forum is the culmination of a two-year cycle of regional activities, during which sustainable initiatives for the promotion of regional climate resilience are being developed. The highlight of each Forum cycle is a multi-day event. The event takes place in Willisau (Lucerne), where a new modular venue is being created in the spirit of sustainable event management.
