India is suffering from an increasingly severe water crisis that can jeopardise economic growth, livelihoods, public health, civil peace, and ecological sustainability. This situation is primarily attributed to unsustainable management practices. Against this backdrop, we have a long-standing history of working on sustainable water and sanitation projects in India and with key local partners, such as EcoSan Service Foundation, ESF. As a follow-up project to the EU-funded NaWaTech initiative, in which we were involved, and in collaboration with the SWINGS Project’s consortium, we launched the PAVITR Project in 2019.

This project aims to validate, develop and deploy cost-effective and sustainable solutions to tackle water challenges and ensure the provision of safe water reuse, rejuvenate water quality of rivers, and restore degraded ecosystems in India. This is achieved by deploying and developing water-wastewater technologies and sensors for emerging and traditional contaminants. Furthermore, it also creates new management and planning strategies to better monitor pollution levels in real-time. Through the project, new methodologies, deployment of novel technologies and their validation in the Indian context are helping to address drinking water and wastewater challenges. As part of a large consortium of European Union and Indian partners and RRR Business Development experts, we are tasked with developing business cases and strategies for market entry for the solutions tested during the project.
